The budget workhorse of fence installation
Of everything in our fence installation lineup, chain link delivers the most enclosed footage per dollar, goes up fast, and asks almost nothing of you afterward. That's why it still rings yards, side runs, dog runs, and commercial lots all over Mansfield, whatever the design blogs say.
It's the right call when the job is containment and durability: big suburban lots where hundreds of feet of cedar would blow the budget, utility easements, back property lines that face a greenbelt instead of a neighbor, and commercial sites where visibility through the fence is a security feature, not a flaw.
Galvanized vs. vinyl-coated
Standard galvanized chain link is the economy pick — zinc-coated steel that resists rust for years of North Texas weather. Vinyl-coated (usually black or green) costs more and disappears into the landscape in a way bare galvanized never will; black chain link in front of trees reads almost transparent from a distance. The coating also adds a corrosion layer and feels better to the hand.
Fabric gauge and mesh size matter more than people expect: heavier gauge wire and framework is the difference between a fence that shrugs off a storm-blown limb and one that wears the dent forever. We'll spec honestly for the job rather than quoting the thinnest fabric that technically qualifies.
Pets, pools, and practical add-ons
For dogs, chain link is the containment champion — visibility keeps anxious dogs calmer than solid fencing, and there's nothing to chew through. Bottom tension wire or rail stops diggers from making progress. For pools, chain link can satisfy barrier requirements when height, mesh, and self-latching gate hardware are specified correctly — though most Mansfield pool owners step up to ornamental metal for looks; see our pool fence page for how barrier rules shape the choice.
Privacy slats can be woven into chain link where you want screening on a budget, and windscreen fabric does the same job on commercial sites.
Commercial perimeters
For shops, yards, and storage in the Mansfield area, we build commercial-grade chain link with heavier framework, wider gates for equipment access, and heights to suit the site. It's the perimeter that does its job for decades and never asks to be the star of the property.
Installed like it matters — because it does
A chain link fence is simple; a square, drum-tight chain link fence is craftsmanship. Terminal posts set deep in concrete against Mansfield's clay movement, fabric stretched properly so it doesn't belly, top rail true. Same process discipline as every fence we build — permit, Texas811 locate, build, walkthrough — laid out in our process. And when an old chain link run just needs new fabric or a gate rehang, that's a quick visit for our repair crew.
